Out of all the places that I’ve been to, Bikini Bottom is definitely up on my top three. Bikini Bottom has always been on my bucket list, waiting to be completed, so when I saw the Bikini Bottom Barnacle Bash being advertised in my local travel agency, I almost squealed! I had to stop myself from running straight in and mindlessly buying the package then and there. Now, I had very high expectations for the tour, but Jellyfish Tours definitely fulfilled them! So I immediately bought one ticket straight to Bikini Bottom!
With good things come some complications before it, so our trip to Bikini Bottom was no different. The customs process was difficult as I haven’t used this process of travelling before (going to the Pacific Metropolis toll booth). But Jellyfish Tours really helped me to get the appropriate forms for customs. But other than that, there weren’t many complications after that.
So on the 18th of August, I decided to take a one-week scientific expedition tour to Bikini Bottom! The 101 Ferry ride to the Pacific Metropolis toll booth was very tedious but it was worth it at the end. Once I reached the Pacific toll booth, we met up with our tour guide and the other eight people from our tour. The tour guide distributed oxygen suits to everyone. After that we entered the screening processes. Our tour guide allowed us to skip a few areas of the process as we had priority passes which is always good.
After the process, our private yellow submarine, organised by Snailways, came and we quickly got through the traffic and got to our accommodation. Our accommodation, the Pearl Suites Resort, was an overall spectacular and welcoming place to stay! But there is a wonderful twist. The suites are pineapples!! Yep, you read it right! I would definitely recommend staying here. The staff was quick to help us, the rooms were wonderful and the food was amazing. The favourite part about the suites was the customisation of pineapples that we could stay in. As I am a big fan of Spongebob Squarepants I just wanted a classic pineapple to stay in.
After I settled into the resort, it was time for our first activity! Since the tour was scientific expedition themed, we were given many special equipment such as nets. Our tour guide, Winnie, was very kind in telling us how to use certain equipment and explaining to us the components of the ecosystem. I especially enjoyed listening to these informational parts of the tour.
The different natural places we went in the tour were the Jellyfish Fields, Kelp Forest, Brain Coral Fields, Sea Urchin Cove, Goo Lagoon and the Palm Bay. Manmade structures we went to were the Sea Needle, Krusty Krab and the Chum Bucket. I enjoyed the Jellyfish Fields the most. On the trip we learnt about the main source of energy, abiotic and biotic components and the food chain (you can see the things that I learnt here).
Overall it was a great trip. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Bikini Bottom. It was very fun learning so much about the ecosystem of Bikini Bottom while enjoying the beauty of it too! Thank you Jellyfish Tours and our wonderful tour guide Winnie for making this trip a dream come true!!
